It’s Obama’s time

Long time no blogging! Sorry, but very busy with big news that I hope to share soon.

I’m eating ice cream @ 12:45am, typing one-handed on a proposal due tomorrow morning, and I finally gave in to temptation to check email. I know, I’m weak.

I’m thrilled by the news that Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination for President of the Unites States, he told me in an email just over an hour ago. Jealous?

Won’t admit I’m surprised, but the cynic in me is. The unjade-able gloater in me will not wait for tomorrow to call my part Republican and part Clinton-supporting family to gloat, I’m calling them right now.

Anyone of you lurking-loos working for the campaign? I’ll be working to win over the great state of PA, target #1: my sister who’s not answering her phone for some reason.

Back to work!

What will come of OH and TX

According to CNN:

Barrack Obama now has 1,215 delegates

Hillary Clinton now has 1,190 delegates

Ohio and Texas are the next big primaries. Both campaigns have 3 weeks to reach voters who will get out and vote. According to ever-reliable polls, Clinton is favored in both states. This does not bode well for my gloating or Obama’s momentum, which could endure a speed bump, but that would make my Obama-slams-Clinton graph less dramatic.

How will Obama continue to drive his momentum to the voting booths? And does it matter?

I’ll never not vote, but the discussions on super delegates lately gives volume to the voice in the back of my head that always wants to measure the affect of my single vote.

A discussion on NPR Monday about these super delegates could have been scripted in Kafka’s Castle. One man, I think he is 22, is a super delegate who became a member of the DNC before he was 20. This fellow recently received a personal phone call from Bill Clinton, John Kerry, and went to lunch with Chelsea. He didn’t say anything about sleeping on hay in a bar, but I suspect he’s heading to the tea room today to attempt to survey the unsurveyable.

We won’t stop trying.

Super Tuesday Tomorrow

with one comment

Remember, if your state is one of the 22 with primaries tomorrow, VOTE.

I wonder if the super bowl will distract anyone or influence primary voting indirectly. If your team won, acute awareness of the true state of the nation may be temporarily diluted to make way for that distinct the-Giants-are-world-champions glow.

I hope this is not the case. I hope one win for New York will not feed into some misconception that a vote for Hillary has anything to do with love for NYC.

I hope people vote with their hearts tomorrow, and do not buy into the notion that Ms. Clinton is the inevitable choice.

I know a lot of people love Hillary Clinton, but I’m not one of them. Watching Bush win the last two elections felt like having pizza cutters slice through every limb of my body one slow roll at a time. We’d survive another Clinton administration, but I don’t want to go back to that place.

I believe with all my might and main that Barack Obama is most capable of bringing balance to the country by energizing our economy, restoring consciousness to congress, and infusing international relations with long term vision. Plus, wouldn’t it be nice to see Republicans on their toes? They already know the Clinton play

I’m gonna put this out into the universe: Please let Barack Obama secure the Democratic Nomination.

Be my guest and disagree, but articulate your reason why.
